Convert date and time between any two timezones

Time Zone Converter — FAQ

How do I convert a time from one timezone to another?

+

Select the source timezone and enter the date and time, then select the target timezone. The converter calculates the equivalent moment in time by first converting to UTC and then applying the target timezone's offset. This correctly handles daylight saving time transitions, so the result is always accurate even near DST change dates.

What is a UTC offset?

+

A UTC offset is the difference in hours (and sometimes minutes) between a timezone and Coordinated Universal Time. For example, UTC+5:30 (India) means clocks are 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of UTC. UTC-8 (US Pacific Standard Time) means clocks are 8 hours behind UTC. Offsets change seasonally for regions that observe daylight saving time.

What happens to time conversions near daylight saving time boundaries?

+

The converter uses the IANA timezone database to correctly handle DST transitions. When a clock 'springs forward', one hour is skipped (2:00 AM becomes 3:00 AM), and when it 'falls back', one hour repeats. Times in the skipped or repeated hour are handled according to the timezone's standard rules, using the pre-transition offset for ambiguous times.

Which timezones do not observe daylight saving time?

+

Most countries near the equator do not observe DST because day length varies little throughout the year. This includes all countries in Africa, most of Asia, and large parts of South America. Japan, China, India, Singapore, and most of the Middle East are on fixed UTC offsets year-round. Some US states (Arizona, Hawaii) also do not observe DST.

How can I find the best overlap between two timezones for a call?

+

The Time Zone Converter shows you the exact equivalent time in any timezone for a given moment. For finding optimal meeting windows across multiple timezones, use the Meeting Planner tool, which visualizes working hours overlap across several locations simultaneously on a 24-hour grid.
